Brief Info

Außenansicht des Klosters Wiblingen

The former Benedictine monastery in Wiblingen was founded in 1093 before the gates of Ulm as a reform monastery. The monastery's history in some cases followed adverse, and in some cases conducive conjunctures, and is marked by phases of decline and of growth. Between 1714 and 1783 the convent had a new building erected in the baroque style. Its splendor still impresses visitors today. In addition to the Monastery Church (Klosterkirche), dedicated to St. Martin, and the Chapter Hall (Kapitelsaal) there is also an impressive, representative Library Hall (Bibliothekssaal).

The museum in the Convent Building (Konventbau) and the many special guided tours which in some case take place in historical costumes, provide information on the monastery's eventful history.
