Heidelberg Palace, the most famous castle ruin in the world, is not only Baden-Württemberg's flagship and international trademark representing the beauty of culture and travel in Germany, with more than one million guests each year from all over the world, it is also the most frequently visited monument in the region. UNESCO World Heritage Site, Maulbronn Monastery, also belongs to the State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The Cistercian monastery in rural tranquility is on the World Heritage List due to its unique preserved condition. In 2018, it celebrated 25 years as a UNESCO site. The State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Wuerttemberg has the task of preserving the historical heritage of the region and presenting it to a broad public, and it is continually striving to help more people become familiar with the history of Baden-Wuerttemberg and its beauty. In 2017, more than 3.8 million visitors enjoyed the region's monuments, their extraordinary atmosphere and wide range of offers. And the State Palaces and Gardens represents a vibrant cultural heritage: The number of people who have visited the region's monuments has been steadily growing for a long time.
Headquarters at Bruchsal Palace
The State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Wuerttemberg was re-established on January 1st, 2009 as an unregulated public institution. Headquarters and management for the State Palaces and Gardens are located in Bruchsal Palace. Eleven local authorities maintain the monuments on-site. In total, more than 450 employees market and service the prestigious state-owned cultural monuments: palaces, monasteries, gardens, castles and ruins.
